Dear Reader, John Fortier is a 77 year old Korean War veteran who conducts a peace vigil every Friday night in Redondo Beach (Los Angeles area) and he has since just before President Bush launched the Iraq War in March, 2003. This brief piece is a reminder hosting a vigil is not easy.
In a few words - I froze my ass off. I wore my old buddy's flying jacket and what it has in sentimentality it lacks in frostbite protection.
The response was light, but the darkness didn't help.
I'm thinking about shifting to a winter schedule of 4 to 5:30 and see how that goes.
In fact I think I may have used that schedule previously during winter time.
