Dear Reader, John Fortier is a 77 year old Korean War veteran who has hosted a weekly peace vigil in Redondo Beach, CA (Los Angeles area) since just before President Bush launched the Iraq War in March, 2003.
Very, very cold and dampish. Generally, I like the fog. I grew up in it in Carmel, but I never sat in it, virtually motionless, for an hour and a half. It was the meanest time I've ever put in out there.
The guy who bought a sign [a War Is Not The Answer sign] showed up for the last hour, and that helped distract and time passed a little 'quicker'. He said he would be back next Friday.
Two pedestrians stopped and visited - one a jogger and one a resident near the video store. The resident accepted two pins and an eraser. [The girl jogger didn't have anyplace to carry anything.]
Traffic response was light. I like to think drivers were paying attention to their driving, because the fog was thick as well as cold.
See you Wednesday.
