Last Week In Iraq, Nearly 200 People Killed

As we in America celebrated Thanksgiving with our loved ones, the death toll from the Iraq War our nation started in 2003 continued to mount last week. http://news.antiwar.com/2013/11/25/nearly-200-killed-in-a-week-of-iraqi-bombings/

But America has never taken responsibility for the carnage it set off and there is very little U.S. news media coverage of it now.

In fact, not only are hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqi men, women and children largely forgotten, so are the U.S. soldiers who died there and the families who mourn them. This is true as well for America's allies who fought in this war.

We as humanity are better than this.

As children of God, we must be determined to live up to our heritage with the hope of stopping current and new military invasions, even as the U.S. fights its 12 year old Afghanistan War and sends soldiers and mercenaries anyplace else in the world it chooses.

It is but one tragedy after the next, one war that through revenge leads to the next war. If the U.S. wants peace as it claims, it must pursue it through peaceful means, recognizing our oneness with all humanity.
