Dear Reader, Last year, more than 10,000 Iraqi men, women and children were killed, the biggest number since the U.S.'s Iraq War "Surge" in 2007. http://news.antiwar.com/2014/01/01/over-10000-killed-in-iraq-in-2013-worst-since-2007/
And in January, 2014 the death toll grew at an even faster pace. http://news.antiwar.com/2014/01/31/1840-killed-in-iraq-in-january/
This is what war brings, enormous death, destruction and deprivation. And of course it often brings revenge as it is bringing in Iraq, along with a lust for power and the greed inherent in massive oil revenues.
But we as mankind can do far better than to sit on the sidelines, ignoring this human agony while this tragedy continues to unfold. Yet we don't.
Personally, I pray for the Iraqi people and I hope you will join me with your prayers. And if I knew of a credible charity, which may in fact exist, I would contribute to it with the hope that it would help to ease the suffering of so many Iraqi families.
When I hear the U.S. President and others proclaim "God Bless America," I wonder if they would share God's Blessing with the Iraqi people, whom the U.S. Government has unleashed such extreme suffering.
