Accepting Responsibility

1/21/15As an American, since 9/11 more than 13 years ago, I've seen my nation launch its endless "War on Terror" as it invaded and killed and maimed men, women and children in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere.

That "War on Terror" continues and my nation also now spies on everyone, doing all of its evil acts in the name of peace.

Most Americans seem indifferent and if called upon to discuss it, claim it's the government and not them that does these terrible things.

Some say, "We have to fight terrorism," never seeing ourselves as terrorists, despite all the blood we have spilled.

At what point do we Americans accept responsibility for the actions of our government, the entity that fights these wars with our tax dollars, and with all the money it can borrow in our name?

Each person in this world is a spiritual being and we are all making this brief journey of life together. To destroy ourselves, rather than helping and loving one-another, is madness.

But I'm an optimist, believing mankind will finally see a higher awareness and learn to work together for everyone's well-being. And who knows, maybe my nation will at last see a light of benevolence and help to lead the way.
